 Conflict Index 2025

LONDON, 12 Dec. - (ANA) - High levels of conflict are the new normal, with one in six people exposed to conflict in 2025.

Amid sustained levels of violence globally, civilians are facing more danger than ever. Over the past 12 months, there were more than 56,000 incidents of violence directed at civilians — the highest level we’ve recorded of this type of violence in the last five years. Drawing on the latest annual data, the ACLED Conflict Index assesses every country and territory in the world according to four indicators — deadliness, danger to civilians, geographic diffusion, and armed group fragmentation — based on analysis of political violence event data collected for the past year. Our updated 2025 Conflict Index reveals:

- Palestine faced the highest levels of political violence worldwide.

- Palestine, Myanmar, Syria, and Mexico hold the highest positions in the Index.

- Conflict remained at a steady level over the past 12 months.

- The wars in Ukraine and Palestine contributed over 40% of conflict events in the past 12 months.

- Gang violence in Ecuador and Haiti led to a rise in their rankings.   - (ANA) -
