Netanyahu's ‘hair on fire’ after tense Trump call
WASHINGTON/TEL AVIV, 21 May. - (ANA) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was left with “his hair on fire” after a tense phone call with US President Donald Trump discussing Iran policy, Axios has reported.
The call on Tuesday came amid stepped-up diplomatic efforts by mediators to bridge gaps between Washington and Tehran, said the report, which cited several sources. It comes as Mr Trump considers whether to pursue a deal or authorise renewed military action against Iran.
Mr Netanyahu was described as sceptical of the talks and in favour of a return to military pressure.
Mediators including Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt are working on a draft framework reportedly involving a “letter of intent” and a 30-day negotiation window covering Iran’s nuclear programme and sanctions relief, the report said.
Both leaders are expected to revisit the issue in the coming days, with an Israeli source saying Mr Netanyahu is seeking a visit to Washington. - (ANA) -
