TEHRAN, 15 Sept. - (ANA) - Iran has rejected holding any talks with the US after President Donald Trump said Tehran wanted a deal quickly, saying negotiations will not take place until Washington meets the conditions it has set.

 

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, warned on Tuesday against being distracted by Mr Trump's conflicting messages, which have alternated between rejecting negotiations and signalling openness to talks.

 

"Don't get distracted by the US President's mixed signals," Mr Rezaei said in a post on X, adding that "no talks" would take place until Iran's conditions were met. He did not specify the conditions.

 

Tehran has previously demanded an end to US military operations and threats, an end to an American blockade on Iranian shipping and the lifting of sanctions. It has also demanded the release of frozen assets and compensation for war damage, while linking the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to Washington meeting its demands.

 

Mr Trump said on Monday that Iran was seeking an agreement "quickly and badly", while leaving open the possibility that Washington could engage with Tehran.   - (ANA) -
