WEF Chief Economists' Outlook: September 2026
GENEVA, 05 Oct. - (ANA) - The September 2026 Chief Economists' Outlook presents a more stable economic perspective than earlier in the year, based on insights from the Forum’s Chief Economists' Community. Key concerns include geopolitical conflicts and asset-price corrections, while AI investment prospects remain uncertain.
Fiscal support, vital since 2020, is expected to diminish due to limited government capacity. Regional growth is uneven: India and Southeast Asia show strong prospects, the US moderate growth, China a weakened outlook, and Europe the slowest growth despite slight improvement.
Persistent cost-of-living pressures continue with real incomes stagnating or falling. Trade and investment adjust amid growing geoeconomic fragmentation, with AI seen as a key optimism driver despite challenges like local opposition to data center expansion and associated costs. - (ANA) -
