Saudi-led coalition destroys scores of Houthi storage depots
RIYADH, 16 Oct. - (ANA) - Saudi Arabia’s coalition forces have destroyed 127 mountain storage facilities used by Yemen’s Houthi militia and several launch platforms in recent days, a coalition spokesman said, following attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and other targets in the kingdom.
Speaking at a press conference, Maj Gen Turki Al Malki, the coalition's spokesman, condemned what he described as “cowardly terrorist acts” carried out by the Houthis on civilians and civilian infrastructure, including King Khalid International Airport on October 10.
The attacks were part of a wider campaign targeting civilian facilities frequented daily by thousands of passengers, as well as attempts to strike dozens of airports, ports and oil facilities across Saudi Arabia, he said.
The spokesman said the airport attack, which took place during peak hours, threatened not only Saudi Arabia’s security but also the safety of Saudi citizens, visitors and travellers from other countries, including pilgrims visiting Makkah and Madinah.
He said targeting commercial airports endangered international civil aviation and the lives of passengers of various nationalities, calling on the international community to fulfil its responsibilities in confronting cross-border threats.
The spokesman accused the Houthis of pursuing a systematic hostile campaign against Saudi Arabia, including previous attacks targeting Makkah and Madinah, and said the group’s actions violated international humanitarian law and its customary rules.
He said the militia had acquired advanced military technology with assistance from regional parties, enabling it to use ballistic missiles, attack and suicide drones and explosive-laden speedboats. - (ANA) -
