Liberia endorses US, Canada and Mexico World Cup bid
MONROVIA, 25 May. - (ANA) - The Liberia Football Association has officially endorsed the joint 2026 World Cup Bid of the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The President of the LFA Musa Hassan Bility in a statement said the decision to endorse the bid followed series of consultations with Liberian President and Former World Footballer of the Year George Manneh Weah, the Government of Liberia and broad consultation with Liberians both at home and in the United States.
Mr.Bility said the long running traditional relationship between Liberia and the United States, the many Liberians living in the US and the impact the world cup will have on them including the commercial value hosting the world cup in the three countries will bring to football were key in its endorsement decision.
The Canada–Mexico–United States 2026 FIFA World Cup bid, branded United 2026, is a joint bid among Canada, Mexico, and the United States to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Morocco is the other bidder supported by all African states except South Africa and Liberia. - (ANA) -
