300 million Africans will be connected to renewable energy by 2030
WASHINGTON/ABIDJAN, 24 April. - (ANA) - The number of people across Africa that could have access to electricity by 2030, following a partnership between the World Bank and the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The World Bank committed to connect 250 million people to electricity through renewable energy systems, while the AfDB will support a further 50 million people.
The investment is estimated to cost $30 billion in public sector investment.
The World Bank, which is set to provide $20 billion for the project, said that African governments will need to establish policies that attract private investment and reform their utilities.
