Obasanjo, Rawlings and  three others honoured

Kumasi, Ghana, 27 April-(ANA)-Former President Jerry John Rawlings of Ghana and Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, were among five persons honoured on Sunday by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II of Ghana for their contribution to the growth of democracy on the continent.

The others were former President Festus Gontebanye Mogae of Botswana; Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, former President of Sierra-Leone while former Prime Minister of Spain, Jose Maria Aznar, was honoured for his immense love and support for the African continent.

Otumfuo decorated all five in rich kente cloths, and presented them with citations on emerald plaques that eulogized their individual traits and contributions to democracy.

The occasion was part of activities to mark the 10th anniversary of Otumfuo’s coronation as Asantehene.(ANA)
