Scabies treated cheaply and effectively in Senegal

Geneva, 2 June – (ANA) - Effective treatment of scabies, a parasitic infection that affects as many as 300 million people worldwide, for less than $0.20 per person, demonstrated by a study carried out in Senegal. Ivermectin versus benzyl benzoate (BB) was applied once or twice to treat human scabies in Dakar, Senegal. Topical BB was clearly more effective than oral IV for treating scabies in a Senegalese community, according to the World Health Organisation bulletin. (ANA)
