Aid must not be weaponised by Israel in Gaza: EU commission
BRUSSELS, 22 Nov. - (ANA) - The European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, warned against politicising humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip and using it as a military tool, noting that Israel allows only a minimal amount of aid to enter the territory.
Speaking at the meeting of EU foreign ministers held in Brussels on Thursday, Lahbib pointed to the continued deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Strip.
"The humanitarian situation continues to worsen. Palestinians are suffering from cold, dehydration, and hunger after the recent floods and with the approach of the winter months," she said.
She stressed that the necessary EU aid supplies are ready at the border, but Israel is only allowing small amount of this aid into Gaza. She emphasised that aid distribution must be "neutral and in accordance with international humanitarian law."
"Aid delivered to Gaza must never be politicised, and it must not be used as a military tool." - (ANA) -
