Israeli forces raid West Bank as Gaza grapples with storm aftermath
ISRAELI OCCUPIED GAZA AND WEST BANK - (ANA) - Israeli forces carried out a wave of raids across the occupied West Bank overnight and into Tuesday morning, as Palestinians in Gaza continue to endure worsening conditions during winter.
According to the Wafa news agency, Israeli troops raided multiple locations, including the city of Tubas and the nearby town of Tammun. Forces also stormed the town of Tuqu, southeast of Bethlehem, where they entered the home of a child previously killed by Israeli occupation authorities.
In a separate incident, a young Palestinian man was shot and injured in the knee in the East Jerusalem neighbourhood of ar-Ram. The shooting took place hours after another man was wounded in the leg in the same area and taken to hospital.
Additional raids were reported in Jenin, Ramallah and Nablus.
The developments come as authorities in Gaza warned on Monday that heavy rainfall could cause further collapses of buildings already damaged by Israel’s war on the besieged enclave. Officials said the severe weather has also hampered efforts to recover bodies still trapped beneath the rubble.
Gaza Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal urged the international community to provide mobile homes and caravans for displaced Palestinians instead of tents. The humanitarian situation in Gaza deteriorated sharply late last week during Storm Byron, which brought strong winds and torrential rain. - (ANA) -
