 Somaliland’s recognition push meets Somalia’s lobbying blitz in Trump’s Washington

PARIS, 13 Jan. - (ANA) - Duelling K Street contracts and a shifting US political climate are giving Somaliland fresh momentum – but precedent fears inside the system, and Mogadishu’s counter-campaign, could still keep formal recognition out of reach.
Somalia and Somaliland are running rival influence campaigns in Washington, betting that President Donald Trump could upend three decades of US policy backing Somalia’s territorial integrity.
Somaliland’s envoy to Washington, Bashir Goth, says the moment feels unusually fluid.
“I have a feeling that this year is our year; Somaliland’s year,” he tells The Africa Report. - (ANA) -
