Gaza records over 1,200 Israeli ceasefire violations as aid pledges fall short
ISRAELI OCCUPIED GAZA, 17 Jan. - (ANA) - There have been at least 1,244 violations of the ceasefire agreement during its first phase, which began on 10 October 2025, according to the Gaza Government Media Office.
The violations reportedly resulted in the deaths of 449 people, including women and children, and injuries to 1,246 others.
During the 95 days of the US-brokered ceasefire, Israel is reported to have fired directly at civilians in more than 400 incidents, and carried out at least 581 attacks, including air strikes, targeting unarmed civilians and their homes.
The media office also documented at least 195 incidents involving the demolition or destruction of homes and civilian buildings.
The statement follows an announcement on Wednesday by US envoy Steve Witkoff, who said the Gaza plan proposed by President Donald Trump would move into what he described as Phase Two'.
According to Witkoff's post on X, the next stage would focus on "demilitarization, technocratic governance, and reconstruction".
Palestinians, however, argue that the conditions agreed for the first phase of the ceasefire have not been met.
Since the truce came into effect, only 24,611 aid trucks have entered the besieged Gaza Strip, far below the 57,000 agreed upon under the ceasefire terms. This amounts to an average of 259 trucks per day, instead of the 600 daily deliveries stipulated in the agreement.
Fuel deliveries have fallen even further short. Just over 600 fuel trucks have entered Gaza, representing a compliance rate of roughly 12 percent compared with the 4,750 shipments outlined in the deal. This equates to an average of around six trucks per day, instead of the 50 per day specified.
The lack of compliance has coincided with a worsening humanitarian situation for more than 1.5 million displaced Palestinians. With the onset of winter, severe weather has caused the collapse of more than 50 homes and buildings, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries.
Cold temperatures have also led to deaths from hypothermia, including among infants. At the same time, Gaza’s government media office reports that more than 127,000 tents have been damaged beyond repair and are no longer usable.
Under the ceasefire framework, the newly formed 15-member National Committee for the Administration of Gaza is expected to play a central role in the territory’s future governance and to lead reconstruction efforts following more than two years of what Palestinian officials and rights groups have described as genocide. - (ANA) -
