WASHINGTON, 14 May. - (ANA) - The ​US war ⁠in Iran has ​cost $29 billion ⁠so far, Jules Hurst, the Pentagon’s acting comptroller, has said. Mr Hurst told ​lawmakers ‌yesterday that the ⁠cost ​included updated repair ​and ‌replacement ⁠of equipment and ⁠operational costs. 

 

Why it matters: The new estimate marks a $4 billion increase from the figure provided late last month and highlights the rising financial burden of the conflict. 

 

Lawmakers and outside experts have previously described earlier estimates as far too low, given the enormous costs tied to munitions, military operations and deployments across the Middle East.   - (ANA) -
