Ulaanbaatar, 01 Sept. - (ANA) - Land degradation threatens nearly 95% of the world's land by 2050, risking food and water security and costing the global economy almost $1 trillion annually. 

 

However, the 17th UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17) in Ulaanbaatar signals growing momentum for ambitious global action. Key factors include increased political will, international collaboration, and financing, with broader participation highlighted by the Riyadh Action Agenda mobilizing $12 billion. 

 

Greater integration of climate, biodiversity, and land policies, leadership from developing countries hosting COPs and launching major restoration projects, and new large-scale initiatives mark a pivotal moment for turning commitment into tangible restoration and sustainability outcomes.   - (ANA) -
