France to host high-level meeting on Lebanon on Thursday
PARIS, 18 Dec. - (ANA) - France will host on Thursday a high-level meeting on Lebanon, amid concerns Israel could launch a new military operation against Hezbollah once a December 31 deadline for the disarmament of the Iran-backed group expires.
The international conference will focus on Israel’s ongoing strikes on Lebanon and efforts to prevent further escalation.
The agenda also includes support for the Lebanese Armed Forces, reconstruction and economic recovery and mechanisms to ensure weapons remain exclusively under state control.
According to Lebanese media reports, the meeting will be attended by Lebanese army chief Gen Rodolphe Haykal, US envoy Morgan Ortagus, Saudi envoy Prince Yazid bin Farhan and French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian. - (ANA) -
