Third round of Iran-US talks begin in Geneva
GENEVA, 26 Feb. - (ANA) - US and Iranian negotiators are in Geneva for a third round of indirect negotiations over Iran's nuclear programme as the US continues making claims about Iran's military capabilities.
JD Vance claimed on Wednesday that Iran is trying to rebuild its nuclear programme, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio saying that Iran's refusal to negotiate its ballistic missile programme is "a big, big problem." President Donald Trump accused Iran of developing missiles that could reach the continental US during his State of the Union address.
Iran has consistently denied seeking nuclear weapons, which has been forbidden by Iran's leadership, with the foreign ministry also denying that it is developing missiles that can hit the US.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who will be in Geneva for the talks representing the Iranian delegation, has said they are "a historic opportunity," and that a deal was "within reach."
The talks, which are also being mediated by Oman, will also see a US delegation represented by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. - (ANA) -
