BRUSSELS, 15 Sept. - (ANA) - Belgian foreign minister Maxime Prévot’s furious reaction to being blocked from evacuating 13 Gaza students might indicate he will keep fighting to get them out.

 

Prévot briefed press in Brussels on Friday (11 September) after two other parties in the ruling coalition, the rightwing N-VA and MR, had made offensive demands, he said.

 

These included bartering Gaza evacuations for his “concessions … regarding deportations [of asylum seekers] to Afghanistan and return hubs,” said Prévot, from the centrist LE party.

 

Prévot's full proposal had been to take in the 13 students, gradually resume humanitarian evacuations from Gaza, and pay for care of sick Gaza children in Jordan in a third step.

 

But the N-VA's immigration minister, Anneleen Van Bossuyt, and prime minister, Bart De Wever, rejected all that.   - (ANA) -
