Israel preparing for deployment of international force to Gaza in May
ISRAELI OCCUPIED GAZA, 15 March. - (ANA) - Israel is preparing for the deployment of an international military force in the Gaza Strip beginning in May as part of the next phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan for the territory, according to the Israeli Kan public broadcaster.
Kan said the multinational force is expected to include around 5,000 soldiers from Indonesia, who will make up the bulk of the deployment, alongside dozens of troops from Kazakhstan, Morocco, Albania and Kosovo.
The deployment is anticipated to begin on 1 May.
According to Kan, the force will initially operate around a new Palestinian city being built with Emirati support near Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip before their deployment expands to other areas of Gaza.
Military delegations from participating countries are expected to arrive in Israel within two weeks to conduct reconnaissance visits to Gaza ahead of the deployment, the broadcaster added.
The report said that hundreds of foreign soldiers will also travel to Jordan next month to conduct preliminary training exercises before entering Gaza as part of the international force.
The deployment will initially take place near what is known as the "Yellow Line", a boundary inside Gaza to which Israeli forces temporarily withdrew under the October 2025 ceasefire agreement.
The Yellow Line separates areas under Israeli military control from zones where Palestinians are permitted to be present, according to the broadcaster.
The planned force forms part of the second phase of Trump’s plan to end Israel’s war on Gaza, a proposal that includes the creation of new governing structures for the territory.
However, Trump's proposal has raised concerns among Palestinians that they could be sidelined from decision-making over the territory’s future.
Palestinians have pointed out that the plan places key security and governance responsibilities in the hands of international bodies rather than elected Palestinian institutions
On 16 January, the White House announced the adoption of a transitional administrative framework for Gaza, including the creation of a "Board of Peace", a "Gaza Executive Council", a "National Committee for the Administration of Gaza" and an "International Stabilisation Force".
The stabilisation force is expected to oversee security operations in Gaza, supervise disarmament and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials.
Earlier, on 9 February, Kan reported that preparations had begun for the arrival of thousands of Indonesian troops to Gaza as part of the international stabilisation force.
The broader plan to end the war includes 20 provisions and is backed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, adopted on 17 November 2025.
A ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian armed groups came into effect on 10 October 2025, ending a two-year war that devastated the Gaza Strip. However, Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire, killing 658 people since the truce came into effect.
Israel's two-year genocidal war killed over 72,000 Palestinians and wounded over 171,000 others.
Around 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed during the conflict, while the United Nations has estimated the cost of reconstruction at approximately $70 billion. - (ANA) -
